Non-Profit Collaboration Leads to New Vehicle for Senior Services of Albany

January 24, 2013

On Wednesday, January 23, 2013 Edward Neary, Executive Director of Colonie Senior Service Centers, Inc., presented the keys to a Mercury Sable to Dr. Raymond Smith, President of the Board of Directors for Senior Services of Albany.  This generous donation by one non-profit organization to another is just one example of the term “pay it forward” being put to use in the Capital Region.  The vehicle donation could not have come at a better time as Senior Services of Albany utilizes these vehicles to deliver 800 to 1,000 meals daily to homebound seniors and non-senior disabled, and to also transfer seniors to programs and services in the Albany County area.   The Meals on Wheels Program is one of the largest in upstate New York and relies on volunteers and a small number of staff to deliver these meals, having safe, lower mileage vehicles is critical to the program.

Their kind gesture by Colonie Senior Service Centers will allow Senior Services of Albany to continue to meet the increased demand for these services as they add this vehicle to their fleet.

Senior Services of Albany extends a heartfelt thank you to Edward Neary and the staff of Colonie Senior Service Centers, Inc., for continuing to support the seniors in Albany County through this kind donation.
