Senior Services of Albany is pleased to offer Newgate Social Adult Day Services; a more cost effective approach than home care with the added benefits of peer interaction.
We provide . . .
- a safe, secure environment in which to spend the day
- full or part-time day services with low staff to client ratio
- stimulating activities for mind and body
- socialization and peer support
- transportation and case assistance
- healthy, tasty meals and snacks
- special events, trips, and outings
Program Hours and Fees
Newgate is 100% accessible to the disabled and open Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pick-up as late as 5:00 p.m. is available upon request. The Newgate program has several available payment options. Please consult with the Newgate Director about these options.
When to opt for adult day care services
It’s usually challenging to admit you need help, especially if you’ve been a highly independent person used to caring for others all your life! And if you’re the caregiver, it may be equally difficult to consider allowing “strangers” to care for your beloved family member.
As with any service, the best time to start exploring what’s available is before you actually need it. You should seriously consider using adult day care when a senior:
- can no longer structure his or her own daily activities
- is isolated and desires companionship
- can’t be safely left alone at home
- lives with someone who works outside the home or who is frequently away from home for other reasons
