Grocery Shopping Assistance and Friendly Home Visitors
Would you like a little help with your grocery shopping? Do you like to talk about movies, books or music but have no one with whom to share these interests? Would you like to have a friendly visitor with whom you can play a game of cards or chess?
Senior Services of Albany can help. Our Grocery Shopping Assistance and Friendly Home Visiting programs are volunteer-based services where we match you with a volunteer who shares your interests. You can have a volunteer help you with your weekly grocery shopping, or someone can stop by on a regular basis to play cards or just talk about things that are of interest to you.
How to Enroll
This program is paid for by the Albany County Department of Aging and is free to anyone over the age of 60. Give Krista Harbacz a call at (518) 935-2307. She will ask you a few questions to learn a bit about you and then she will get started to find the perfect volunteer match for you.
We are also always looking for people to share a few hours a week with an elderly neighbor, so if you are interested in being a friendly home visitor or a shopping volunteer, call Krista Harbacz at (518) 935-2307 today.
Becoming a Volunteer
Our grocery shopping assistance and friendly home visitors program allows volunteers to be meaningful companions for neighbors in need within their own community.
Download a Volunteer Application and return to the Volunteer Coordinator via fax, mail, or email. A personal interview is required before volunteering begins.
