New Adult Day Program – Helderberg Haven set to open September, 2014

Senior Services of Albany is pleased to announce the opening of their new Adult Day Program, “Helderberg Haven” which is set to open in September 2014.  In anticipation of being able to serve seniors in Berne, Senior Services is in need of several items to make this site a success.  In addition Senior Services of Albany has received approval to paint and decorate their current Day Program the Newgate Adult Day Program located on New Scotland Avenue in Albany. For many caregivers these day programs give them peace of mind knowing their loved ones are socializing and safe while they are at work or just knowing they are not sitting home alone and isolated.

Want to help provide items that will make these locations a more “home like” atmosphere?  Listed below are items that both locations need to provide the most comfortable setting possible for our seniors.

Wish List  (Items need not be brand new but should be in good safe condition)

A couch, one or two lounge chairs, end tables, floor lamps, curtains, two large wall clocks, silk or dried flower arrangements, a computer desk, large filing cabinet that locks, puzzles, games, cards, dominos (please none with missing pieces or parts), arts and crafts materials of all kinds, small knick knacks, old jewelry to be used for prizes, a DVD player, a bookshelf, large print books and magazines, coffee table books – large books with lots of pictures (National Parks, Countries, National Monuments, etc.)., comfortable kitchen or dining room chairs with cushions and arm rest so it is easy for seniors to get up, music (from the 30′s, 40′s, 50′s and 60′s).
